Enjoy Playing Bowls

There are a range of ways in which members can enjoy games at the club, as follows:

  • we have friendly roll-ups on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1.30 to 3.30/4.00pm (arrive for 1.15pm) which give new members a chance to hone their skills and get to know other members
  • once you have joined the club you can come down to play on your own or with others any weekday from 1.30pm or from 10.30am on weekends, provided you check your fixture card to ensure there are no matches, and avoid pre-booked rinks as shown in the rink book in the club foyer
  • you can sign up for friendly games against other clubs, both home and away, as advertised on the board opposite the men’s changing room (details also given in the fixture book). Teams are also advertised on the board once selected
  • you can also sign up for a range of friendly one-off internal competition days during the season, also advertised on the club board
  • at the start of your second season you can sign up for internal club competitions – novices, a range of singles competitions and pairs, in a knock-out format. Information and entry forms will be broadcast before the start of the season
  • as you gain experience there will be opportunities to be selected for more competitive club league and external competition matches
  • you can also choose to enter local division and county level competitions in singles, pairs, triples and fours. Most competitions, internal and external, have a small entry charge
